Disappointment. It can be a central theme of the Holiday Season for our children. That disappointment comes from high expectations that often go unmet. How can we help them navigate this very difficult reality?

It begins with us, as caregivers, anticipating that this time of the year can be deeply wounding to our children. While our children often build up expectations like tall towers, in their minds and hearts, we have to be ready as a soft place for them to land if, or when, this tower crashes to the ground and their heart is broken. We are fortunate to know amazing therapists like Brooke Randolph, LMHC, who provide valuable insight into this hard road we may find ourselves traveling!

A Little More About Brooke….

Brooke is the Founder and Director of Counseling at The Green House in Indianapolis, where she sees a variety of clients for issues including relationship concerns,  pre-marital counseling, adoption, depression, anxiety, trauma, divorce, and grief and loss. She not only mentors the counselors who work with her, but also provides consultation for other therapists who want to grow their adoption expertise and Brainspotting practices. She is a Certified Brainspotting Consultant & Specialty Trainer, Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, and Adoption Expert.
