As human beings, we spend a lot of time hiding our past wounds. We look at them with shame when we should look at them as stories to be told. Stories of redemption and hope. When we acknowledge our wounds they can lead us toward healing and restoration.

We are so excited to introduce our audience to Sandhya Oaks. Sandhya is a radiant human being, and we absolutely loved interviewing her. Sandhya is a consultant, advocate, ministry leader, writer, and speaker. Her remarkable story of discovering her pre-adoption name her orphanage gave her was featured in a TedX Talk (Link below).

A little more about Sandhya…

Sandhya Oaks is a transracial International Adoptee. Her story of adoption is a story of trauma, redemption, healing and more. She specializes in mentoring adult adoptees and trauma/healing through narrative focused care. Story work is her passion. She brings hope and understanding on how and where to seek help for adoption-related trauma, and how to experience restoration when an adoptee doesn’t have a family. She also focuses on Ethnic Identity Formation (redemptive narrative in restoring the lost pieces of one’s birth culture) name, food, traditions – going back to her orphanage was huge and has held a profound experience for her.
