When you understand how trauma changes the brain you can change your approach to your child and move toward healing. But how do you make sense of something as complex as the brain? Check out this throwback episode on the podcast for the answer...

We’ve spent the past 7 years explaining the brain, and how trauma impacts it, in a very simple fashion because, well, most of us are parents, and caregivers, not medical experts. That’s precisely why we love the work that Jessica Sinarski is doing through BrainBrains and the books and resources she’s created. This interview was enlightening, refreshing, and thought-provoking!

A Little More About Jessica…

Jessica Sinarski, LPCMH equips parents and professionals to be healers for hurting children. Weaving user-friendly brain science into everything she does, Jessica ignites both passion and know-how in audiences. Extensive post-graduate training and 15+ years as a therapist, consultant, and parent educator led her to create BraveBrains, a resource and training platform for home, school, and community. She is also the author of WHAT’S INSIDE YOUR BACKPACK? and the RILEY THE BRAVE therapeutic picture books.

Jessica partners with child welfare agencies, mental health providers, and school districts across the country to better incorporate effective trauma-sensitive practices into their work. She also shares her expertise as a contributor to magazines, blogs, and podcasts. When not writing and training, she continues to work as a bilingual therapist and clinical supervisor at an innovative adoption support agency.

Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree from Taylor University in Psychology and Spanish followed by a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. Jessica’s post-graduate education includes a Certificate in Adoption Therapy from Hunter School of Social Work and countless hours of continuing education related to neurobiology, trauma, and attachment.

Jessica lives in Delaware with her husband and three busy boys.
