It may seem obvious, but all-too often, we isolate our marriage issues, believing they’re only impacting us. But there’s something greater at stake. The health and happiness of our children hangs in the balance.
On the journey of adoption, foster care and special needs parenting, in particular, we’ve experienced numerous difficult and heartbreaking moments. The only way we were able to make it through these trying times was the encouragement and unconditional love we received from our support community.
Parenting is one of the hardest, most overwhelming, and sometimes defeating journeys in life. While there are certain blessings, there are also moments when you just want to collapse from exhaustion. How do you fight through weariness and find the rest you need?
It’s something you might expect will happen when you begin the foster care journey, but still find yourself unprepared for: Emotion. Strong emotion, in fact. How do you combat the ups and downs, twists and turns, and unending roller coaster ride of foster parenting?
